    Welcome to Kindergarten!

    Hi! I am thrilled to share this school year with you and your child. My name is Miss Murray, and this is my fifth year teaching Kindergarten. I graduated from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Science in Education, focusing on Early Childhood Education and Sociology. I am a certified teacher for preschool through grade 3 in New Jersey.

    I am eager to watch your child blossom both academically and socially this year. My goal as your child’s teacher is to help each student reach their fullest potential by fostering a sense of unity through diversity. I believe that every child should be empowered to become a knowledgeable thinker, ready to embrace challenges, reflect, and communicate effectively. I strive to create a classroom environment where respect for each other’s needs is paramount, ensuring that all children feel safe, comfortable, and confident.

    As a teacher, my role is to scaffold students’ learning, allowing each child to thrive academically, physically, and emotionally every day. I aim to cultivate a space where students feel comfortable asking for help and expressing their feelings. Your child will engage in reading, writing, counting, exploring, brainstorming, and problem-solving. Our daily activities will focus on letter sounds, sight words, math, and handwriting.

    In Language Arts, we will use a program called Being a Reader, while in Math, we will implement the Math Workshop framework to tailor learning experiences. We will begin with numbers and gradually progress to shapes. Science and Social Studies will be integrated throughout our curriculum. This year, especially, I will work closely with you as partners in your child’s kindergarten journey. Through open parent-teacher communication, we will collaborate to ensure your child reaches their fullest potential.
