Hello! My name is Mrs DeJoy, and I am thrilled to be your 6th grade science teacher. With over 10 years of teaching experience, I am passionate about bringing the wonders of science to life through engaging research, hands-on projects, and interactive lab experiments. My goal is to foster a love for learning and curiosity in my students, encouraging them to explore the world around them and think critically about scientific concepts.   • What is your grading policy?

    1. Late work is accepted at the teacher's discretion.
    2. Homework is not accepted late. It is assigned on the first of the month and is due at the end of the month.
    3. Absent work must be made up within the same amount of time the student is absent. Extensions are decided on a case by case basis
    4. Grade Weight: 75% Classwork, 25% Tests/Quiz/Projects, and 5% homework.

  • Do I have homework?

    Yes! Homework is assigned at the beginning of the month and is not due until the last day of the month. Since you have the entire month to complete, no late assignments are accepted. Homework consists of researching science questions and providing the source.

    Yes! We will be doing labs. You must first be certified in lab safety through a course I will give in class.

  • How do I submit latework?

    I will accept MOST of the classwork assignments late. This is within a reasonable time frame.

    2. The period you have science
    3. Screenshot of the assignment that includes the work or score.

    Late assignments will be graded when my schedule allows.
